I tend to think you are peeing against the tide in your comparison between the compressor refer and your old school ammonia unit. How long it lasts on a bottle of propane would be compared to what? Solar, that could operate a compressor refrigerator forever, doesn't need bottle recertification, bottle filling, level, etc. I am impressed you fixed the manufacturers sloppy installation and that the refer works better than ever, and that your temps are holding nicely, but aside from improving on the original install I don't see how it is better compared to a Danfoss compressor refer that requires no propane. I don't get your point comparing a unit that requires propane regardless how long it last on a bottle with a unit that never needs propane. Maybe there is something I am missing.
Ah, you are missing something...
Maybe in Nevada where the sun shines all the time. Not east of old Miss where it's cloudy a lot and there are trees that shade the sun.
If I lived out there where green gravel lawns and cacti abound, I'd be having me a Danfoss and panels too. As it is, it don't work that well here.
Not comparing. Just stating that an ammonia unit is a viable means of RV refrigeration, especially back here in the east, if it's set up correctly. Nothing more. You can disregard this thread, Don't apply to you and you can keep your green gravel lawn too. Cacti have prickers don't they...:p
