Amsoil OE Synthetic

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this oil. I bought 6 quarts for the Fantastic Pentastar in the family Chrysler.

Heard nothing but good stuff about Amsoil and this OE version meets the Chrysler Spec.

Thanks!

  • It is MS-6395 approved

Mobil 1 is not. Though I wouldn't be concerned with that other than warranty purposes.
  • The pentastar is easy on oil.

There really is not a bad choice on the market.
I use Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20, using the EVIC for oil changes. Which equals about 10k OCI. Only reason why I'm using Pennzoil is because my local wallyworld has it and it's relatively cheap. FCA uses Pennzoil for OEM fill in the 3.6. Not that it matters much, but I bought the lifetime Max care so, considering all those reasons, that's the reason for my choice.

But I would have no problem whatsoever using the OE or the SS oil in ANY engine.
  • Is it approve "by Chrysler" or by Amsoil? Might be fine oil but I hate deceptive approvals by any of them.
  • I am using Amsoil signature series & filter.

It is an extended service oil up to 25,000 miles, although I change it every 12,000 or less.

    I am happy with it.
  • Depends...no one size fits all...even with socks...

Full synthetic has higher specifications than dino...though the gap
    has gotten smaller

How do you drive? Little old lady to boy racer ? How often each week
does your ICE see max RPM? How often to you sustain it above 80% max RPM?.
How often do you go WOT? If so, how long do you stay at WOT? etc

Where do you drive? Ambients, inclines, altitude, extreme heat, extreme
    cold, high rev'ing w small torque...to low rev'ing w huge torque, etc

How often do you push the ICE's oil to it's limits or close to its limits?

How do you manage maintenance intervals? Time based? Mileage based?
Extended service cycle? Type and quality of filtration?

Then factor hauling/towing. PUP to one at MTWR (the real MTWR) factored
    by the above metrics

All why I use synthetic in everything...even my lawn mower/tiller/etc
Plus make my own additive brew, even in the lawn mower (TroyBuilt/Honda eng)

Have owned used that burned/leaked/etc so went to jug dino for them
until either rebuilt the engine or sold them

Was one of the first to use Amsoil. One quart cost more than my hourly
of $3.50...it was IIRC, $5/qt...vs dino IIRC, around a buck/qt
  • No better IMO. At one time they weren't API rated, not sure if they are now.
  • I use it because it is one of the few oils I can find for my diesel. I use the Full SAPS 5W40 Euro Formula.
  • Some rave about it. Some say, "meh". It certainly won't hurt anything. I've never used anything but dino based and my vehicles have anywhere from 160k - 200k on when I'm done with them and they are still in excellent mechanical condition. I do oil changes about every 5k miles or when the DIC says it's time.
  • More expensive that other full shnthetics. IMHO not worth it
  • Lets just say that after 2, yes 2 bad experiences with Amsoil NON-certified snake oil products, that stuff will NEVER be in any engine OR transmission I own.
