I had a 1998 B1200, liked it a lot, but did have some rot to fix over the years, just sold it and upgraded last year. Most of my rot was caused by some damage to front from the previous owner that I initially didn't think was serious. The one place you might want to check is the bottom of the door. That vintage of 1200 seemed to leak enough water inside the door to rot it out. I cleaned out the rotten bottom and planned a piece of pressure treated to the right thickness to slide up into the bottom of the door.
Yes you need to remove a bolt and loosen one to rotate the jacks up, then replace the bolts and tighten both bolts.
I carry a collapsible walking stick with a ball like top behind the seat to push in the canvas and also emergency cain when needed.
