anode out?

Does anyone just leave their anode out? It seems like it would be better not to have that thing disintegrating in the tank.

No, I leave it in. The purpose of the anode is to protect the tank by sacrificing itself. I don't understand your thinking. Could you explain?
  • If you decide to leave it out when there is no water in tank, make sure you block the opening so insects do not explore your tank.

Correct. Any time there is water in the tank, the anode must be installed.

  • I leave mine out over the winter when the trailer is winterized. The rest of the time it is in place.
