Another Arctic Fox 1140 / 1150?

How's your Arctic Fox holding up? What are the pros? What do you like the least? Disregarding cost, if you had to buy a new "like size" truck camper would it be another Arctic Fox?
  • Really happy with our 1 1/2 year old 1150. Very pleased with our choices: wet bath, polar cub AC (just measured we are 11'6" tall, I was figuring something over 12 ft), thermal pane windows, fox landing, intermediate step. We would by another Arctic Fox in a moment.

I think for most people the biggest con is the weight. We planned for it and are under GVWR (even with all of the storage and bringing lots of things) but unless you have a relatively new one ton DRW pickup with a gas engine you are probably going to be over your GVWR with full tanks and loaded up. That may or may not matter to you.

Another con may be the length. We thought a lot about getting a 990 but I think the 1150 was the right choice for us. As we go more off road we will see how big an issue this becomes.

Everything is holding up well except we are getting a little surface rust on some of the "trim rings" under the outside storage locks and on the tie down brackets (as well as the fast gun locks).

One other thing to weigh when getting a camper is the dealer support. We are fortunate in having a great dealer in the area. I bought my previous camper (a Coleman pop--up) from them 20 years ago and they are still giving the same great service. That was a strike against some of the campers that the dealer didn't carry.
  • My 2010 1140 is doing just fine. Never had to take it back to any dealer for needed repairs. Never saw another similar size TC that had more storage than what I already have, plus the 8 cu ft fridge is loveable. If I was buying another single slide TC it would be an AF. If I wanted a double or triple slide TC it would have to have a dry bath so I would have to consider another brand.
  • Love my smaller 811 but the next one will have a side entry and dry bath. Those were options I could not choose with my current truck and still have capacity to tow.
