I traveled fulltime for 2 years with 2 cats. They needed the exercise and seemed to really like being able to move about. The opening also helps to keep a reasonable temperature in the camper when traveling in hot or cold weather. After traveling all day in the hot sun, it was a joy to open the camper and find it relatively cool due to the A/C from the truck. In addition I could pull cool air through the truck into the camper with the exhaust fan. That was a real plus when campgrounds did not have hook ups and did not allow generators.
