Another GVWR

The Raven on a F150 Crew Cab is a good choice. The weight numbers look pretty close. The suggestion to remove the jacks is a good one. I take mine off.

Timbrens are a good idea too. They will effectively increase your GVWR capacity to 7700#.

Next time you replace your tires, get "C" rated LT tires.

Your thinking is right on; campers are a blast. Have fun.

You thought right, it is fun:) you can haul on a 1/2 ton, just have to be smart and use common sense when doing it.

I think that's about the best you can do, if you are dead set on hauling a truck camper with your F150.

Thanks, the Raven weighs 850 lbs and is a pop-top and therefore not as tall as other campers. I considered just a shell, but it is just as high and doesn't weigh too much less.

I hope you find something that works for you and I am not from the weight police, but..... Don't forget that hauling a 1,400 pound truck camper is not the same as loading up 1,400 pounds of concrete blocks. The higher center of gravity and the sail effect of having much higher sidewalls can affect your stability also.

Weight Police Question:
Coming back from tent camping over Thanksgiving and wishing again for a TC.
GVWR is 7200 lbs
actual weight of truck with gasoline and driver is 5780.
Payload should be 1420
weight of 4-Wheeler Raven camper = 850
approximate weight of jacks = 120
passenger weight = 175
weight of gear (including food and water as if we were going to backpack) = 100

This would leave 175lbs for springs, etc.

Do these weights sound right and safe?

I have essentially the same setup, truck wise, as RWDIII. 05 F-150 Stx 4wd supercab. Payload listed is like 1400 lbs on the door sticker, so not much.

I have an 8' pastime camper that weighs out at 1300 lbs dry, completely dry even. I actually took the jacks off to get that weight just to figure out my leanest of lean. So about 1450 with all 4 jacks. Mine has an oven/stove, refridge, heater, and that's about it. No generator, no nothing else.

It carried it fine with just me and my fiance, but I threw Timbren SES bumpers on it to level it out, but i'll probably throw bigger springs on it later instead. The Timbren's are nice, but with the sligtest bit of load, and no camper, my boat bounces around way too much when towing it.

I'm over the GVWR, but a good 15-2000 or so lbs under the GCVWR and about 400lbs under each axle's rating. When towing the boat i'm probably right up at the RAWR though, but I can carry more stuff as I offload it all to the boat, and leave just me, and my fiance in the cab with minimal amenities.

Haven't used it a ton yet, just twice, but she handled it fine with the Timbrens. Didn't feel like I had any issues with braking the time I towed the boat, and didn't feel overpowered when some side winds hit us either.

As far as which camper for you to get... having a supercrew... I'm not really sure, but I probably wouldn't start off with that 1500 lbr. I'd probably look for something around 1k or so, as even at that starting point, you'll be in a similar situation to me. Probably over GVWR, but hopefully within Axle ratings, or close to them.

I really do like my pastime, and the company's support is awesome. If I ever buy another one, i'll gladly look into them again.

My little pop up was 1350 lbs and fully loaded with gen,firewood,tools and me it weighed 7750 with 35 gal gas.
I added overloads and LT tires

Maybe I should ask what is the maximum the camper should weigh? Is 1275 lbs light enough? 900 lbs?
