I looked at the code and all it mentions is that it is a temporary VIN. It didn't say that it would convert to permanent after three years. I didn't want a branded title that had to be re-issued every three years.
Did you have a VIN already? In my case, I have the VIN and can make it out on the label if I squint super hard.
I had no VIN. He made one up. Since you have a VIN I would strongly recommend that you do this "by the book". I'd hate to see you get into trouble over such a trivial situation.
