My original old style Reese, with the bars and chains and catches that flip up to tighten the chains on the trailer A-frame, lasted over 10 years. It worked great on the first 2 trailers and then the third trailer... which was a few thousand pounds heavier, lasted a few months and I had to replace it. The actual hitch head bent. I think my last trailer was too heavy rather than an aging system.
Anyway, I'm on year 4 with my Equal-i-zer, and it's showing no signs of fatigue at all. It's rated 1400 and 14,000.
