Anti-Sway Friction Control

I am new at the Rving thing so I need some advice. I have a 33 ft. long travel trailer it has weight distribution bars. I am towing with a 03 Ford F250 Crew Cab long bed. I know that proper loading off the trailer is important but I was looking at getting Anti-Sway Friction Control put on. I was told it shouldn't be done on a long truck? But then others say yes it can. I am traveling out west in less then a month and worry about the winds out there. Any suggestions? If yes what Anti-Sway Friction Control is the best? Thanks Everyone
  • NO cams means that you don't have any sway control. It is just a regular garden variety WD hitch.
    Nothing wrong with that. It is the most commonly used hitch around. Now you do need some sway control.

    I would do one of two things.

    1. Simply add a couple of friction sway controls to what you have. You do need two, as your TT is over 26'.

    2. Sell what you have. Use the money towards the integreted hitch/sway control of your choice.
    There are several, and they all have their fans.
    They can all do the job too.

    And so can the friction controls. I had them early on, and they worked great. The only reason I now longer use it, is I wore it out. And at the time, it was more cost effective to get the EQUALIZER. I like it better for ease of use. But I would not hesitate to use friction controls again.
  • I have a Pro Series WDH with SC that came with the trailer when I bought it. It has the square bars....1400. I added another friction sway bar that I ordered from Etrailer.com. I had a friction sway bar on my PUP..just used part of the hardware. I just needed a little more control, I thought.
  • The dual cam can be added to most regular weight distributing hitch set-ups. I did it myself on my previous trailer. I came across it on ebay one day at a tremendous price. If the bars don't already have the bump at the end, the dual cam sway control kit comes with bolt on pieces. They use the holes left after you remove the U-bolt that holds the chain on each bar. I really liked the dual cam set up, although there is nothing wrong with the friction bars as an inexpensive option. I believe those friction bars are even available at Harbor Freight Tools.
