Anti Sway Systems - Necessary or Marketing Con?

This may open a Pandora's box and bring down a lot of criticism on my head but the question really remains a valid one I believe. Are Anti Sway bars (Like the Hensley) really necessary or a crutch ...

After reading so many of the replies to this question it has occurred to me that some percentage of "The Sway Problem" has to do with the Drivers misunderstanding or not understanding the Physics involved in pulling a trailer.
