What I do is:
Back or pull into site, Check level before chocking wheels.
If satisfied with position, chock wheels of trailer front and back.
Put truck in NEUTRAL, turn engine off.
Jack up tongue, if it sticks on the ball, use your butt to push on the back of the truck, just enough to make it rock a little.
Hitch usually releases after a couple of bumps on the truck.
When hitch clears the ball, disconnect chains and emergency brake cable and power cord, then move truck and grab a cold one, (Diet Coke of course.)
At a lot of places this would be great. But, at the rougher, out of the way, places I go after unhooking, or maybe even before, things (like the truck) would roll away.
