That is the truck that I have. And it has been completely trouble free (that said, my truck is completely recreational. I would estimate that 80% of the miles have been towing something). Almost all the rest would be road trips going hunting.
I use an app to track my mileage. My lifetime mileage is 10.82. If you look at fuelly, they have tracked 102 vehicles for over 2,000,000 miles, and their average is 11.8.
2013 - 2018 average somewhere between 11.9 - 15.7, so there probably is a penalty for the non-DEF emissions system.

I have no complaints about my truck, but if I were buying today, I would get the newer truck, mainly because I always would opt for more power, and I would like the higher output engine and the Aisin transmission.
I'm terrible about budget creep. Looking past 2012 would likely lead me to 2016. And then I would figure out that you really don't save much cash buying a newer, low mileage diesel vs brand new.
