I disagree about new and used costing about the same. You just have to be willing to look. I've always saved 10-15 grand buying slightly used vehichles. A Certified Pre-Owned rig is the best deal out there. Low miles, usually a 7 year 100k warranty, plus no depreciation driving off the lot.
Just have to do a little legwork. I've only bought one brand new vehicle in 50 years, and only because I didn't have time to put in the effort that year.
Best price nationwide I found when shopping for my current truck was $70,500. Found a used CPO of exactly what I wanted right down to the color for $62k out the door. Factor in the difference in sales tax and I saved almost $10k.
That's a lot of coin to save considering the truck had only 3,970 miles on it.
