I bought a new genny this spring for our 9' camper. We don't have A/C so didn't need a 2000+ watt machine. I looked at Honda and Yamaha, and balked at the price. Finally bought a 1500 watt Firman from Home Depot...

I could by four of these for what one equivalent wattage Honda or Yamaha would cost in Canada. Out of the box, and some fuel added, it started on the 3rd pull. I've used it a number of times now, and it'll run the microwave, coffee pot, and toaster (only one at a time, of course...) just fine. And a half hour a day seems to keep the camper battery charged right up. It's fairly quiet -- 63 decibels -- fifty feet away from the camper, we hardly notice it. We tend to use it boondocking (hunting & fishing), with no other rigs around. It's not too heavy -- approx 50 lbs. I'm late 60's and pack it around without difficulty.
Good luck with your decision and purchase.
For such purpose I bought this generator few years ago.
While camping in Sierra- we did not need AC so battery charging and occasional microwave oven use was all I worry about.
It did all I needed, including running coffee maker and on this one, the HF coupon work, so I paid $80. Even I did not really needed it, could not refuse the price. Not that easy to start, but I've been dealing with small engines since I was 14 and even without advanced mufflers, small engine was hard to hear inside the camper.
