One of the best places to experience the eclipse in Oregon would be on top of Mary's Peak in the Coast Range, where you can nearly see the ocean to the west and can see across the valley to the Cascades to the east. But there is only a small campground and the parking lot on top is not large. My guess is that there will be a long line of stalled traffic on the road to the top, even early in the morning. I'm just mentioning this in case anyone wants to give it a go. I won't be entering that competition -- I'll be a long, long way away.
