I have a 2015 F350 SRW, 2 wheel drive. A little bit ago I was talking to a guy that has the exact same truck hauling a huge Redwood fifthwheel. When I asked him about the limits of the truck and the weights of his fifthwheel, he said that he retired from Ford, and they reduce the number they put on the placard for the RAWR by about 20 percent. Said they (engineers) know that drivers are going to push the limits of the truck, so they just wanted to give them a little fudge factor. Reason I ask is sometime soon we will be buying our full time unit. I have seen plenty of 250s and 350s hauling big rigs all over this country. I know there are those that say you can't haul anything without a dually, but if that guy was correct, I have quite a bit of room left over for what we are looking at.

Well, according to Ford, you can tow a fifth wheel to 16,300 pounds with a SRW. According to Redwood, their rigs are GVWR of 16,500.The axles on the Redwood appear to be the same no matter what length they are, but the carrying capacity diminishes as weight of the unit gets longer. The pin weight also gets heavier by some extra.Going up to a DRW takes you up to 24,600 it seems. They use a higher rear end ratio to haul, and to brake the load, and are just so much more capable to tow safely in all conditions.

I don't think they would give up 20% to the competition just to allow someone who thinks they know better to not hurt their truck.

If you run the 19.5" Vision rims, you will be limited to 4500 lbs per wheel. The same size Rickson rims are rated for 5000 lbs each. I used to run 4805 lb rated tires on the Vision rims and typical SRW rear axle load was 7000-8000 lbs. I never had wheel, suspension or axle issues with my 3/4t truck.

If I go with these I will have a little over 5,000 worth of payload with the hitch in the truck. My people don't ride over the axle, they ride up front with me. I haul my cargo in my 5er or boat.

You know things get longer when you go south of the equator :) They only make a 30ft model know, that can be pulled by a European Chassis Cab. That photo was for the previous 36ft model, 14,000lb GVWR., used the same photo for their 33 Ft model.

Some places, like where I live, GVWR is a legal limit. I can license my truck for any weight I want and they will take my money but that doesn't make me legal if I am over my GVWR, axle or tire ratings

Everything has a safety margin designed into it. As well as having to compensate for people who ignore ratings, they have to because things lose strength with age and use. The engineers who designed it know what that margin is. The rest of us are just guessing.

I would put that on my 3500 srw and not bat an eye. Can I do it safely? Sure I can. People seem to not understand that towing safely is the driver, not the equipment.

OK so what weight rating are the tires on your SRW and what is the unloaded rear axle weight?

What I stated above will add well over 5K to your truck and most of it will be added to your rear axle.

My 2013 3500 will handle 4075# pin weight ready to go just fine. I've had more than that on my 2005 2500 and the tires are rated less. I'm not saying I would run coast to coast at 75 mph but I would take it anywhere I wanted to go and do it safely. BTW not all of us collect rocks and store them in the closet over the front.

Everything in the world has a factor of safety engineered in. If not, the elevator at your office would fail at 2401#, the floor in your house would fall through when aunt Sally tilted all her weight to one leg of her chair and a whole bunch of other bad things would happen.

And, in truck terms, it's because we humans are too dumb for our own good. If every 3/4 ton truck exploded at 1# over its GVWR? Well, at least the highways would be more open on Sunday afternoons.

So, how much of a factor? Before dropping out of Engineering school, I seem to remember a 50% over was somewhat standard on things that REALLY mattered. Like elevators and bridges. A truck axle or other truck weights? Who knows. But, it sure is fun watching those that think they do :)
