I cannot agree that pickup is worn out after four years. However, I do agree with your other points.
I put about 10,000 miles a year on my truck camping while still working full time. Does a typical retiree do considerably more mileage? I'm pretty sure that $20,000 will not get you a 4 year old class 8 with 500,000 miles just like it will not get you a 4 year old pickup with 50,000 miles.
