Anybody towing with a late model gasser?

I just had to shell out a little over 10K to fix the high pressure fuel pump on my 2012 Ford diesel. 37k miles on it and the dealer said "sorry" ford won't pay. After some discussion on this subject he said that about all you can do is buy your fuel at a truck stop (flying J ,Pilot etc) and hope you don't get any bad fuel. I'm about ready to try to find a gasser that will tow a 13k # fifth wheel up over the mountains . Is there any such thing made now?

  • Ouch!!!

I have had two Cummins diesels, and as much as I enjoyed them -- you can see I now have a 2014 RAM powered by the 6.4L Hemi gas engine.

My truck's tow rating is 15,470#. So, the answer to your question is YES, there is a truck made that can do the job.

I believe Ford's SRW F350 with the 6.2L gas V8 and 4.10 ratio has similar max towing numbers to my 2500.

Can you post more details about what happened with your Ford? And you might want to try an insurance claim, it worked for one other member here (Ricatic) who had the same issue with Ford with his 6.7L Powerstroke diesel. He had the same major failure and Ford told him to pound sand on warranty.
  • Sure, the GM 6.0 in both ¾t and 1t plus the Ford 6.2 in the Super Duty. They will handle the weight and you will be satisfied with the ride as well.
  • One thing wrong with the dealer repair system is that service writers make the decisions on warranty coverage. They can tell you that Ford won't pay, but the service writer is not your advocate. That's far too much cash to take this lying down. Call your regional Ford rep and make the case yourself. Make it clear that your next truck is coming from a competitor. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
