USUALLY when it becomes necessary to modify the truck for greater capacity, it's wiser to CHANGE the truck to one that has the capacity. There are OTHER things that come into play besides gearing so it COULD become a whole string of upgrades to finally make you happy. As long as you're talking about going from an ECONOMY gear to a towing gear which is offered as standard for your truck it may help but it won't make a HUGE difference. Lots of money for little change.
I totally agree with this. Please, spend the money you would have spent on a gear change and put it towards an adequate TV. You will NOT regret having more truck.
I fuss about my old V10 Dually, truth is, its a towing beast. There is a calming sense of security that comes while pulling with a more than adequate TV.
Last year we had a 1200 mile Camping Trip with a 31 ft TT in tow, a 800 lb Golf Cart in the bed, Family of 4 in the cab, and complete stability under every circumstance while towing.
Thanks!
