My sone has a 4.8L v8, with 3.42 gears, and the old 4l60e trans. I recall him pulling a 6-7K trailer a few times. He has no issues with how it handled, pulled, power etc. Granted it does not pull as good/fast as my dmax! but he still got the trailer pulled at speedlimits! or at least with in 5 mph. So a 5.3, which has more HP, 6 vs 4 gears, where your 6 cover a broader range hi and low than his setup. Not sure what the issue would be pulling a 7500 lb trailer. Unless pulling in 2nd gear is not your cup o tea! BUT< you have a high reving motor, so use the revs. enjoy camping with the family!
