Anyone ever install Allure Ultra flooring

Has anyone in a cold climate installed Allure Ultra flooring in their rig? Allure Ultra snaps together and is a floating floor.

The manufacturer does not recommend it be used in non-climate controlled areas. Here in Wyoming the temp got down to -30° this winter and the original vinyl sheet flooring is badly cracked and split, so I am going to have to replace it.

If anyone has used the product in a cold climate please let me know how it is holding up.

  • I used Allure ultra (snap together) in my KZ travel Trailer 3 years ago. It is a floating floor, looks great and has held up great,
  • Here is a picture of mine. It has been down for about 2 years I would say and I'm not having any problems with it. But mine isn't Allure either. I purchased mine at Lowes.

  • If you're sensitive to chemical off gassing, think carefully about Allure products. The vinyl is made overseas and there have been some bad reports on chemical problems. To be fair, I believe the Mfg. has a tighter rein on product constituency, choosing 15% recycled vinyl rather than the initial 25% it was made with. Unfortunately, that 15% still comes from Indonesia, the last I read.
  • We recently put a solid vinyl laminate plank flooring in our house. LOVE IT! We'd used the wood laminate plank several years ago and between doggie toenails and an occasional accident, it was terrible in no time. I told the salesman I wanted "everything proof" and he assured me that this was. Brought home a sample for DH to see and he suggested putting it in the sink with water. Left it all day and absolutely no change from when we put it in. Easy to do, snaps together and we put the quarter round down with brads going into the wall rather than the floor....the floor needs to float and expand or contract with the weather. If I read your post correctly, it says the manufacturer says NOT to install if not climate controlled. If that is correct, I would make a phone call to find out why and get good info.

An orange in the apple basket here. Allure (in the post you linked to) uses adhesive strips to hold the planks together. The Ultra version is click-lock vinyl, so there is no adhesive, it snaps together like laminate and forms a floating floor. We are looking at this now for our TT.
  • Yep. We installed it a few years ago in our little C which is currently under a few feet of snow. It seems to hold up well in the cold and has been completely drenched when I forgot to hookup up the hose from the water tank to the pump. Seems fine. I am not a big fan of the look but I needed something that could get wet as we sometimes put our Kayak inside and it seems to always come in with water.

    Hope this helps.
  • This is how you do it. It seemed to hold up fine for us in the cold weather, but be sure to lay it loose so it can expand and contract, especially lengthwise. Cannot give any long-term results as we traded this MH, but it survived the winters we had it ok.
