Anyone familiar with Bilstein 7100 shocks?

I just bought a truck with Bilstein shocks and what I think are 7100 series. They have a schrader valve to air them up. My question is "what should they be aired up to?" I checked them this morning FR-34.5 lbs. FL-0 lbs. RR-43 lbs. LR-34.5 FL appears to have a leak and will probably have to be rebuilt. I've tried several searches and can't find any info on airing them up. I'm taking the truck in to Off Road Warehouse next week for an inspection but was hoping for some information beforehand. Thanks.

  • I would check, but I would be surprised if Bilstein doesn't warranty them. However, other than the 4600s, I don't know of any Bilsteins that are valved for heavy loads like a truck camper.
  • Thank you. Wasn't familiar with Bilstein Racing shocks and apparently neither was the guy that I bought the truck from. He said he used the onboard compressor to air them up. Air creates condensation which probably killed the shocks. Having ORW check them out next week.

    Routine Maintenance
Gas Pressure - All 7100 Series shocks must be checked regularly for proper gas pressure. Bilstein
recommends using 180 - 220 P.S.I.. You should experiment with pressure to find what best suites
your application. Always use safety glasses when adjusting pressure. Use nitrogen only!
