I agree, if you don't mind doing the watering and your batteries are easy to reach, flooded are nice and cheap.
AGM has a few other small advantages. They can be mounted on their side for certain space constrained situations. They don't really outgas at all, only under extreme overcharging. They can't spill and won't corrode things around them. They hold a charge for longer periods without recharge than regular FLA. They can accept a higher bulk charge rate which could be important during peak solar or when you are running the genny.
Lithium has some similar advantages over FLA and some advantages over AGM.
For me the AGM advantages were worth the cost. Lithium is just not there yet for me. I need a few more guinea pigs to test them before I sink $4000 in a battery system.
