There are always problems when folks think that X amp-hours of PbS batteries gives one X amp-hours of energy to utilize. Safest is to only use 40% DOD and perhaps sometimes down to 50% DOD.
We are on the Olympic Peninsula and checked on sites in the National Park. I asked the lady at Mora (Olympic NP) if there were sites suitable in the Park for solar and I was gently chided "Sir, this is a rain forest, this is not a place in which solar panels are of much use.
We then spent 6 days at a National Forest Campground which is also rain forest on the Olympic Peninsula. We received only some diffuse sunlight through the thickly grown 120' second growth forest. We still used the microwave, the juicer and watched Mystery Theater (DVD) using the inverter. We had dropped only 45% DOD (-5500 W-hrs) and could thus have remained for another 4 or 5 days before looking for sun (or turn on the gen set 1 kW generator). We drove through rain and mist today and recovered 3000 W-hrs. We do not charge from the pickup's alternator since we use that wire for the rear view video camera. So we believe that the day of LFP is upon us and glad that we are using them. They are expensive but one hopefully gets what one pays for. As I noted in a post somewhere at RV.Net, Liberty Coaches (the $1.8 M and up Prevosts) have gone entirely to LFP and have tested them severely (2000 cycles down to 80% DOD).
No one really wants to be the pioneer, since they have a tendency to wind up shot full of arrows.
