- BedlamModeratorI can understand the acceleration decrease, but the gearing should have been able to move your trailer with ease.
When I was initially looking to upgrade, I wanted something that had equal to or more output than my 6.0 PSD with 325 hp and 570 lb-ft since I was happy with the power. The 6.7 PSD in the pickup may be rated at 440 hp and 860 lb-ft, but the chassis cab was only 300 hp and 660 lb-ft which was why I was serious looking at the 6.8 V10 with 362 hp and 457 lb-ft. There was less of a change in the CTD between pickup and chassis cab tune which got me closer to what I originally had. - Kayteg1Explorer IIThe manufacturers don't really disclosure different engine ratings for different applications, but before I bought my 6l dually, I rented F550 with 6l from Hertz.
With my dually rated at 320 HP, I am racing BMWs in city traffic.
With rented F550 I was very close to making few accidents when the truck would barely move my 18,000lb trailer at intersections. - v10superdutyExplorer

I did look into that. The only problem is - While they still come with the exact same 6.7L and tranny, Ford intentionally de-rates/reduces the motor down from 440Hp to 300Hp, and 860flb's torque down to 660. This was to increase the drivetrain lifespan given the heavier duty they are expected to take.
I think if you dig into it, all manufacturers "derate" more than "reduce" the HP & torque on the heavier class trucks.
Something like the lighter are rated at the flywheel and the heavier are at the rear wheel?
So in actuality the power is quite similar, just rated/quoted differently.
The actual info is out there somewhere and I believe has been discussed on this forum in the past. :h - Steve_in_29ExplorerNope not interested in buying ANY new trucks and plan on keeping my 2007 F350 6.0 for the rest of my life.

In the mean time doesn't look like anybody is buying 2016 models.
And the horror stories are legend. Each make and model ( "the latest & greatest" -LOL...) will continue to bare its own bean-counter OEM trouble spots that'll raise their ugly heads (by end of Honeymoon).... With cooperating factory 'go along to get along' build attitudes ($$), the majority of dealer profits (and owner cost) occur post warranty in the dealers rear garage...A replacement turbo alone can exceed $5,000, part of the price we pay for engineered mediocrity and the blindest of blindest brand loyalties...
In closing, pick your poison. - Kayteg1Explorer IIIn the mean time doesn't look like anybody is buying 2016 models.
