Newest out there that actually has proto's out on public streets...albeit in disguise
GDICI (gasoline, direct injection, compression ignition...AKA
Stratified charge) and has most of the normal ICE components...of
course beefed up for the higher volumes of air in each
cylinder...pressurized oil spray to cooled piston bottoms,
Differences to the Otto Cycle are:
This architecture will increase power (both torque and HP in all RPM
ranges) and also increase MPG. Am wondering if there will be a need
for high octane, but too early to tell yet (or find that kind of indo)
Basically a diesel ICE, but fueled by a gasoline (cleaner, so easier
to SMOG). NOx might become a higher issue, but CATs would then become
bigger too
Careful on bumping up any direct injection, spark plug ignited gasser
Do the home work, as Ford did a good job of it in architecting the Eco
line-up...but for their internal margins...going over their design
spec and into their margins...is the risk when tuning/chipping/etc
Personally, think the Eco line-up hasn't been around long enough to
know how much to 'push' them...long term

Differences to the Otto Cycle are:
- No spark plugs (compression ignition)
- Fairly high compression ratio...high enough to create enough compressive temperatures to ignite
- Super Charger and/or Turbo...there is one OEM which has both...a turbo in front of the super charger...they are in series
- Special, very DEEPLY dished piston tops...compared to traditional gas & diesel...thei CC will have several times more volume
- Un-throttled intake
