This is the inside of the tappet gallery on our old 2001 Ram CTD right at 300,000 miles! I we bought at 234,000 and changed oil every 10,000 miles. These were taken right after the cover was removed. Just because the oil is black it isn't a bad thing. I had my oil tested and could have gone longer than 10,000 miles easily, but I put on about 10,000 a year so it worked.
