There seems to be universal negatives with Heki hatches. The marine hatches we used on our 41' ketch were excellent for marine use but I think they would not function well as an escape type hatch. The forward hatch on our 2005 Lance has a single release catch which is a lot better than the four cam type dog down latches which were part of our marine hatches. I don't remember the brand or prices of our yacht's hatches, they were heavy, sturdy , and very dry in heavy weather conditions. There are many used marine parts outlets that could be a good source. We were required to replace the rubber gaskets from time to time. The quick release system is an important feature for our TC applications.
