I was using Rotella T6 5W/40 before, and it was an improvement in cold starts over Rotella T (T is now T4). But the AR9100 was such an improvement that I quit using the T6 and now just use the T. I was not happy with the shearing I would see in my oil analysis with the T6, and so I was changing it at 3k miles to keep the viscosity in a desirable range. I did not like using it while towing in the summer.
The AR9100 is a little expensive, but the lower cost of T versus T6, as well as running 5k instead of 3k between changes, more than makes up for the cost.
I'm surprised that it is helpful in a 7.3, I guess I didn't know stiction was an issue with those. If it is, I am not surprised that the AR9100 helps.
I use Rotella and do oil analysis. Where do I look on my reports that would tell me if their is shearing? Have not had any issues but I did buy Delo recently for my next change.
