I believe 2004 was before they went to the aluminum "super structure" frame Not sure if the wood frame makes a big difference in weight but the 2006 we had was one heavy beast on our 2004 ram but good with stock 2017 ram with factory air suspension. I believe all three manufacturers now have higher GVWR (14,000 lbs)than our 04 did which needed some help with air bags. I believe you will want to add some suspension upgrades to help with the weight.
