Arctic Fox tank size changes

I happened to look at the 2014 Arctic Fox brochure on their web site and I noticed some changes in sizes in the tanks from the 2013 brochure.

Fresh water (with water heater):
990: 55 -> 59 gal.
1140/1150: 55 -> 59

Gray water:
990: 44 ->. 39
1140/1150: 44 -> 35

Black water: unchanged at 43 gal.

I'm not sure I understand the thinking. The additional fresh water is nice but the loss of gray water capacity, especially the amount lost in the bigger 1140/1150, seems like a bigger loss. Personally I would trade some black water capacity for gray water capacity.

    I can see why they did it. Not to mention the grey will just over flow to the black correct? Personally I would rather have more fresh capacity than black / gray. You can always shower outside and not worry about the gray water filling up.

    I'm not aware of any built in overflow from gray to black. I kind of like the idea though. Does anybody know a camper that does that? I do know people who add a valve to the dump connector which then mixes and equalizes the tanks.
  • Fresh takes a second place black. Gray just has to be resonable to me.
    1) I can carry more fresh in a bladder on the roof, not fun, but doable and I can get 5 gallon jugs also.
    When black is full, you have to dump and there is nothing you can do about it.
    Grey, I can usually let some out if it's full.
    In a TC, 50+ fresh is good; under 35 black and I won't look at it, 35 gray is ok, but acceptable.
    To me, the 55 fresh to 59 is fine, because it's more important to me than gray. I try to dry camp in the middle of nowhere as often as possible, so any reduction in fresh is bad. Black increase would have been a better trade to me.

    All in all, fair trade. Not sure about the ratio though, 55 to 59 buys 4 gallons of fresh, but you loose 9 gallons of gray.
  • I keep asking the same question without getting a reasonable answer. Who craps 43 gallons worth?
