Good luck with the Starcraft, mine is still rolling at 42 yrs. old!
I loved following your thread on the Hilton BTW... Awesome project!
I did find some additional information online. It seems that they claim a fairly huge increase in R-Values with the addition of some foil wrap... As I said earlier I have some heating and cooling background in my education. I'm not sure I completely believe that a layer of foil can increase the r value of a wall by 200 or 300 percent... Maybe materials have advanced more than I think... Not sure why its not being used in every new house if so.
Yeah, I see product literature from the Mfg.'s touting R-39 and R-19 with the foil backed bubble wrap. There is usually an asterisk somewhere, where they reference the bubble wrap maker.
The only way that the bubble wrap can achieve the higher R values is if both sides of the cavity are hermetically sealed, no convection. That ain't gonna' happen. They will offer a good vapor barrier if sealed correctly.
If I was going to really winterize the underbelly of a new rig, I'd figure where I didn't want any insulation and needed access points, then I'd spray the underside with good quality foam.
Some of the guys on this Forum have started using hydronic heating devices or circulators and I think there could be more use for that. How nice would it be to heat the floor with a water heater. The next Hilton, maybe...;)
