Are 250/2500 trucks limited by their Class?

To simplify, they should just offer various GVWR's on the 250/2500 models up to the capacity of the 350/3500 SRW and then make the 350/3500 models DRW only like they used to be. Then the "3/4 ton" models would have a capability reason to exist again.
