Are diesels worth it, for costs per mile?
Was at a car dealer out of town, and the dealer (name with-held to protect the guilty) was trying to warn me away from a diesel on the 3500 models he was selling, unless I had at least $15,000 a year ...

Our 2005 Duramax engine with 135K miles on it now, has required little or nothing more than oil changes ($80), air filters ($20), tranny fluid changes every 30/40K miles ($100 - which you should do anyway on any truck), and fuel filters every 10K miles ($50). I will do a radiator flush soon and refill with more Dex-Cool mix. Knock on wood :-)
Adding it all up, that's a far cry from $15K per year that sales guys is trying to feed you.
If you buy new, I think all of the big 3 will have a 100K/5 year warranty I believe, or something similar.
