Are exterior protection packages worth the money?

In the process of finalizing our new purchase of a 2014 Lacrosse trailer. Dealership has recommended a type of exterior pckfg so yu will not gave to wax for 4 yrs. are these worth the money or is it just another way if getting more money not well spent?
  • Not worth it, just a gimmick.

I worked at a Toyota dealership in the 90's when the money sucking scam was teflon paint sealant so no waxing or fading for 5 years. Out of curiosity I asked the installer if they recommend anything to the customers to maintain the finish after the teflon. He replied to use a good paste wax once or twice a year. :h

They also guaranteed no fading for 5 years. Wouldn't you know it, Toyota conveniently had a guaranteed no fading for 5 years policy. I can guess where they would send a customer complaining about fading during their covered period. :S
  • Nothing they apply will stay on for 4yrs except paint or clear coat. Dont waste your $$$. Same goes for paint protection on cars.

    X2

High profit item for the dealer, pretty much a waste of $$ for you.

  • What is the cost and for what size of TT? What happens if it fails in 2 - 3 years, what's your recourse? Will the dealer handle the failure, or are you just given some 800# to call? People need information to base their opinions on.
