Exterior protection

Can't quite afford a coach with full body paint so I courious about the sealents the dealers sell.
  • If the dealer is offering a high priced wax, then that's exactly what you will get. Any good wax, polish, protectant will do nicely for newer units. For good uv protection many people use 303 Aerospace protectant. Many people let their units sit outside a lot and neglect the exterior primarily because it's a big job, but needs waxing a couple of times a year. Less often if kept inside.
  • You can buy a gallon of the junk a dealer slathers over everything at an auto-paint supply store.
    But it's not worth it.
  • If you have full body paint with several coats of clear coat, you will regret using a wax that has any kind of abrasive material in the wax. It will dull your clear coat faster then anything.

All I use on my coach is a liquid Blue Coral once a year and dry wash it most of the time with The Solution. The paint job on my coach now is going on twelve years and still looks like the day I bought it brand new.

    X-2 on the #303

I have partial paint and vinyl graphics on my MH. The dealer never offered anything but after reading through many forums I ended up using 303 top to bottom.
Be very careful as many of the waxes you put on the graphics can cause more harm than good. I do use Turtle wax Ice on the front and rear caps for extra protection but I still don't put it on the vinyl even though many say it is safe. I have read that wax is safe for the graphics if 303 is applied first.
  • This is a product that is applied at the dealer and comes with a 5 year guarantee. My last coach started loosing graphics in 2 years. Sure would like to make the new one last longer.
  • Every year I do a spring time paste wax. I try a different brand each year. My favorite so far is Mother's California Gold. A carnuba wax. A bit harder to remove but well worth the results. I do two or three coats. Seems to hold up well for about a year. I store under cover. The rest of the year I am too busy campin to worry about it
