I understand the wife wanting AC. Mine wants it, but I don't want to spend the $$$ for a genny. I have solar (100w panel recharges me every day), so we do without AC.
That said, if I was going to get a generator, I would go with a Honda 2000. AND, put in a hard-start capacitor. Do a search in the TT forum, and there are some good discussions. With a hard-start capacitor, they say a 2000w genny will start and run a 13,500w AC. This way, you are only spending for one genny, plus the capacitor. It is supposed to be a simple install.
I second the 8,000' elevation comment. It is unlikely you will need AC at Moraine, especially if you are not in camp between 2 and 4:30 in the afternoon. She will likely want to go into Estes to do some shopping, so plan on that timeframe for the shopping trip. That's how I got my wife through Utah in the heat of the summer. :B
