When a flush floor slide is in there is nothing supporting the front floor area of the slide. that gets supported when it is out and the slide floor is resting on the trailer floor. on other slidouts that aren't flush floor slides, they may be OK to be used in the in position, but it`s not the way it was designed to be used.
When it is in the out position, it is much stronger with it being supported by the floor of the TT.
I used to use mine retracted in my previous TT as well on occasion. Not often at all though. I never thought about until I toured the Sabre plant when picking up my present TT. The plant manager told me not to use the slide when it was in... I questioned him on it. He said that they are all that way, and explained why.
