Are there any mfrs with bad overall reputations?

I really doubt there is a manufacturer you should avoid. Get your floor plan and size basically set in mind, then go looking. If buying new, I'd look at warranty, the dealer and fit and finish of the particular unit rather than company. If buying used, how well maintained it was would be paramount.
