Are there "good" clip on mirrors?

Still a newby, but LOVING the help I get from this forum. We have a 2010 GMC Sierra crew cab SLE with heated exterior mirrors with the red arrow in them. They our NOT far enough out to see end of our 26' TT. There are clip on mirrors available on line. Are these adequate? Any to gravitate towards or stay away from? Any other hints?

Thanks so much!
  • I had slip-on for my Silverado, and if I didn't upgrade I would have swapped them out. The shake and wobble at driving speed made them useless.
  • After buying my Tundra, I purchased the Grand Aero Towing mirrors and they've been the best "clip on" mirror I've ever had. You can attach these mirrors several different ways....to the top or bottom or you vehicle's mirrors and you can use the mirrors in a vertical or horizontal position. Some of the construction is plastic...so they won't last forever, but the screw on clamping system really works well and I'm not concerned about them falling off!

  • CIPA. No more vibration than the stock mirrors. They work well.
  • I bought the CIPA extensions and hoped they would work.. I was wrong.. Just not enough mirror to see what is going on back there... I broke down and bought these.. Glad I did...

Night and day difference.. Can see high and low.. The only feature you lose is the power fold as you must pull these in manually. When extended, there is some shake at 60 mph on the top mirror. I'm glad I have them even for everyday driving.... About an hour to swap them out...
  • X2, except I have a Ford F150. But they work very well.

I have the CIPA towing mirrors for my 2007 tahoe (which appears to have the same size mirror as your truck). They just slide over your existing mirrors and then clamp on. I normally put a napkin or tissue over the top before sliding them on because some people have complained about them leaving scratches. I personally have never had that problem. When they are on I can see all the way down both sides of the trailer when driving straight. I feel they are more than adequate. They also don't interfere with the integrated blinker or heater.

Here is a link to the ones I have:

I also saw this version which gets similar great reviews on amazon and is a bit cheaper:

  • I also have a Sierra and tried the clip on type and was not very happy with them. I ended up putting OEM tow mirrors from the dealer and could not be happier, they are power, heated and have the signal in the glass ...
