I sold motor vehicles for a while and tried to be knowledgeable about every vehicle we had. But buyers do so much research that invariably there would customers who knew way more than I did.
I found out that the best thing was to answer the questions that I knew the answers to. And correct any obvious mis-information they had. After that if they had questions we had lots of technical information that I could turn too.
Most of the time the real buyers knew what they wanted and all we had to do was agree on the color and price.
Bottom line was that some of you would have thought I was a uniformed salesman.
