- coolbreeze01ExplorerI have two sets of Toyo AT's. One from China the other from Japan. My Nittos were made in the USA. All good so far.
I buy from Les and Discount/Americas Tire. Excellent service from both. - _DJ_1Explorer II

I will gladly pay the $40 per tire to get the Les Schwab Road Hazard to protect a $500 tire. :)
well, first the tires weren't $500 each, but in any case it's an apples to apples comparison.
that price included the road hazzard warranty from Discount/Americas tire, which having used both Les and discount road hazard, the discount road hazard is in my experience better warranty no prorate, free direct replacement, and covered anywhere in the U.S. At least when I had to use it. Try getting Les to do a replacement when there isn't a Les store around. Nada..... you gotta get to a Les store. Discount will either have a local tire store replace the tire on the spot if it is available or overnight air a tire to a tire store near you, or if next day won't work for you, and the exact tire isn't available have a local store install a suitable tire(s) for you and then when you get to a Discount location, swap them back out for the exact tire you had. Discount doesn't even need to see the tire to warranty it. They take your word for it.
Try to get Les to do that. They might have done that 10-15 years ago, but not anymore. Les Lost me as a customer when there prices went up higher than better brands, and the service just isn't there anymore.
Also Les "road hazard"is a prorated waranty, not free replacement like discount. to quote Les If your tire is damaged beyond repair due to a road hazard, we’ll refund you the remaining value of the tire, or apply this amount towards the purchase of a new tire.
so it's gonna cost you something to get a Les tire replaced under the road hazard waranty. with discount the cost is $0.
I have only used LS road hazard once. We bought a used Olds Bravada which all ready had Open Country tires. Hit a chunk of iron on the freeway ruining a tire. I took it to LS the next day and they mounted and balanced a new matching tire. When I reached for my wallet they stopped me and said have a nice day. I didn't even buy the tires. The previous owner bought them and they were definitely not new tires, but not worn out either.
Call me crazy but I will continue to buy from LS based on my own personal experience. :) - cobra98ExplorerNever heard of LesSchwab here in the south but looked up his web site, poor at best. When they don't even give you a price and you have to call for it that tells me the price is to high, they don't want you to be able to compare.
- BigBlockFordExplorerHave run Toyo HT's on our daily driver/weekend boat pulling Explorer (LR-C)- on our third set; great in all conditions baring mud-obviously. Snow & rain are a strong point for these due to the amount of siping present. very quiet with good milage.
Buying my second set of Toyo MTs (LR-E) for the truck this winter. routinely loaded to max rating, with ~40K miles on them. Have nothing but good things to say about the brand.
BBF - ksssExplorerNITTO may be an option, made by Toyo. I have been working in axle deep mud the last three weeks, and the EXO Grapplers are proving to be excellent tires offroad. A coworker after seeing these things has bought himself a set as well. Their road manners are good as well. I have 8k on them now with zero noticeable wear hopefully they hold up. So far so good.

My dad has run nothing but Toyo for years cause he's a creature of habit and always buys tires from Les Schwab. He's actually done really well with the Open Country AT. I'm sure he's not getting a great deal on them, but you'll never convince him to go anywhere but Schwab.
I've kind of gone away from Schwab the last several years but they do have a compelling advantage if you live in the northwest, and that's that there's generally a Schwab store in most of the little towns you go through. It's pretty handy to have them readily available like that, but you are going to pay a premium for it.
If you like someone up your AZZ before you can get out of your truck they are for you. If you want quality tires at a fair price they are not the place. If you are ok with 40 out of a tire they are for you.
I can tell so many horror stories about them it would make you sick!

for several decades I was also a loyal LesSchwab customer. Service is good for tires. (other service they offer is IMHO hit and miss), stores everywhere in the NW, and at one time very competitive pricing and tires comparable to other major brands. However, starting about 5 or so years ago, there tire prices started climbing, and the last several times I checked, Les Shwab tires were substantially more expensive than what I considered equal or better tires.
Yep, growing up in Oregon, we bought all our tires from Les Schwab. Didn't even look anywhere else. But their prices have just been noncompetitive the last few times I've bought tires. Which is a shame. I love their service and attitude. But I'm not paying 20% more to get a comparable (or perhaps inferior tire -- not sure the Toyo is on the same level as Michelin) just for all of that.
