I live near Elkhart and this has been a strange year.
The TT manufacturers’ production schedules are full out for the foreseeable future. We had record snow and cold which slowed deliveries and filled the factory lots with finish units to ship.
A TV news spot a few weeks ago mentioned the RV manufacturers have approached the State to reduce the commercial hauling licensing requirements for some classes of TT.
And as mentioned the few people I talk to who looked into the hauling deal, did not think it paid well enough.
If the unit was finished and close enough, I think I would arrange with the dealer to pick it up myself and deliver it to the dealer for dealer prep. Certainly not a good answer, given the time off from work, insurance and overall hassle but it might be worth it if delivery is out several months.
Finally the dealer might be able to put you in touch with a driver to pick it up for you, but you are only adding to the TT cost.
