Are you waiting for delivery of new TT/FW too?

Ordered new 30ft TT November 2013. Built in February 2014, dealer explained it is one of (?thousands?) awaiting delivery across the nation. Built in Indiana, delivery will be to NH. My research indicates issues with delivery rates paid are not sufficient if the haul is over 500miles,(hauler can deliver and return in one day) CDL's, payment, empty hauls back to manufacturers, etc. About 1.25 mile no cdl, 1.45 with cdl, hauler pays all own expenses, including a 40k truck. NOt much left for earnings after expenses,. What is the answer? The industry has had a great year building new units, should the RV manufacturers invest in trucks to haul, and contract themselves? If the issue gets worse, customers could cancel orders, this in turn will hurt the RV recovery. What is a solution?

If you ordered in November and still don't have it, you need to look for a new dealer.

Even now, with peak production, drivers are still delivering units. I can have an ordered trailer in about 8 weeks maximum, even now.

Don't follow much industry news do you?

The OP is accurately describing the current situation for many people. During the worst of the winter storms the RV builders were unwilling to ship RVs, coupled with an increase in orders/sales, a decrease in the number of drivers and no financial incentives (ie no change since fuel was much cheaper) the industry is in a real bind.

BTW, my understanding is that a CDL is required, along with the current insurance.
  • We ordered one January of 2014, picked it up about three weeks ago. What brand did you order? Ours came from Indiana also. The dealer said it would have been a little quicker, but they had a rough winter up there that shut the plant down for a few days and backed up deliveries.
  • Offer to pay more for delivery. You'll move up the list.
Delivery drivers choose to pull what is most the most profitable for them first.
