Arizona Swimming Holes-short report

My wife's family came down from Utah for a short trip in their travel trailers, so we did the campground program and visited the local creeks, caves, and lakes.

Tonto Natural Bridge is always a good spot to bring family.

This dripping spring oozes over the top of the travertine bridge.

View of the dripping spring in contrast to the otherwise arid climate.

Three generations of campers. My wife's parents raised her in multiple truck campers and RV's, and if it wasn't for her, we'd still be sleeping in tents.
  • Blooming cholla.

Pics later from riding the Vineyard trail high above this part of the Salt River.

    Browns Peak from camp.

    Campground raven.

Bad iPhone pic of a pack of four javelina that wandered through our camp.

iPhone pics from morning ride up near Browns Peak and then down via the Vineyard Trail. Great 16 mile loop with unreal views. Too bad I was too lazy to haul the DSLR.

    Roosevelt dam.

Last truck camper trip in AZ. Leaving for AK in two weeks and have a month to get there. Looking forward to that trip.
  • Punk face.

    Lizard growing new tail?

    Starting to bloom saguaro.

    Apache.

    Nice temp for swimming.

  • Next day we went to Christopher Creek, a popular summer swimming hole just below the Mogollon Rim.

Cold, but crystal clear swimming pools.

    East Verde River

Swam up this channel in next pic. Amazing clear water, just very cold.
