As quiet as a Prius..

I am around trucks all day, But most contractors do not have new trucks or the outside environment is not quiet enough for me to even notice. Today, One contractor pulled up in a 2013, F-350 diesel. I only noticed the difference because I was not yelling across the passenger side to give him direction. I could not believe how quiet it was. Now, I am sure the other (2) of the big 3 are also quiet, but, I was impressed.

Usually, I am yelling so loud or I just ask the guys to shut the engine off as it is just too darn loud to talk business.

Wow where have you been, most of the Big Three diesels have been very quite since 2011. I test drove a 2011 RAM Cummins and was really impressed with how quite it was.

Drove a 2006 Mazda 3 Turbo Diesel in Ireland for four weeks while visiting my daughter, and it was very quiet and ran great!
  • It's good to hear that the quiet diesel technology in the recent BMW, Mercedes, and even VW car lines is making its way into pickup trucks. I sat in an idling BMW X5 diesel a couple years back, and you couldn't tell it was even running, let alone that it was the diesel version. Even with the driver's door open, one foot on the pavement.
