This is not correct. Transite is not flexible like vinyl reinforced flooring with asbestos. It is made with portland cement and reinforced with asbestos (actually, it is not made with asbestos any more).
I don't think it serves anyone to put up a bunch of assumptions on the material or the hazards of which, in the OP's ceiling. We don't even have a description or a picture of the material.
