attaching "stuff" to the walls

your right owen, sorry I got sidetracked went I sent the post. The reason for the horizontal backers was to allow for mounting of whatever, where ever we want with out worrying about support or additional holes in the walls. we can make changes as needed and only affect the backers. My wife "matched" the wall pattern with 2 matched colours from the hardware store, a roller and saran wrap. she rolls one colour on allows it dry. then the second colour is rolled on,covered with saran while still wet. immediatly peel the saran wrap off and that is what you end with.
