All,
Thank you for the replies. And let me say, when I used the term "Weight Police" I did not in any way mean that as a derogatory term. I have seen it thrown around, and always took it as those folks on the forum who key on weights and have done the research, have the info, and enjoy talking about it. Figured those were the folks who I needed to hear from.
In reading my original post, it was a little convoluted, so thank you to those who actually understood or at least deciphered what I was attempting to ask. I think I spent too much time on the tire rating, wasn't my point, and spent to much time there.
I am not one to go back and quote and reply to folks specific posts, but to the poster that suggested I read the Ford Tow Guide, I have, hell I did at the dealer, with the sales person, before I signed a thing. And for your edification, if you look at my specific truck, as outfitted, and look at the rating, it has a dash, no number. Does that mean I can't tow a 5th wheel? Doubtful. Easy to read? Mostly, but the sales staff was scratching their head as well. I have read it, downloaded it, printed it, read it over and over, still can't figure that one out. Hence my question on that. But whatever.
I have also researched a ton, about every acronym out there. I think I have researched until I have made it even more confusing. The numbers simply don't all match up. But obviously, for safeties sake, you go with the lesser of all, to stay squarely within ratings. Very similar to how GAWR are calculated, based on the weakest link.
For those who gave a geniune answer, again, thank you. I am learning. I am thrilled with my truck. I bought the RIGHT truck for my application. I am at half my current rating, get 14+ mpg towing, and it is a dream.
Again, I am just learning. Thanks to those who have helped me and provided some informative posts, with the mess I gave you to work with!
To those that chose to be condescending and borderline rude...to hell w/ you.
